Golden Hill is split up into 4 tiers, really its just Cyclone Hill (King Silme) but this time you have to start at the top and work your way down. The main change is that the terrain is now more snowy and theres an arena on the last tier, this is where the end boss resides.
When you first start Gold Hill you will be right on the top of the hill surrounded by ore and mobs. Before you do anything you will want to get your partys setup but don't move too far, you wont want to aggro a mob at this early stage. Once you move far enough forward you will notice your way is blocked by a large ice wall preventing you from moving to the next stage. If you think of King Slime you may remember that you had to kill all of the mobs on the tier in order to progress. However Gold Hill works a bit differently. Hidden inside one of the Ores on the floor is a key. You need to mine this key and then whoever has it needs to talk to the ice wall to open it and unlock the next tier. Mining is a good way for low level characters to be useful in this KQ. The mobs are powerful and a low level can easily die if they're not careful, so mining the ores and trying to find the key leaves the higher levels to fight and kill the mobs and saves the clerics some work. You will also notice that you don't have very much time to complete the KQ. However everytime you unlock the next gate you get more time added on. Don't forget that when you go there are quests you can complete, the hardest quest being the first one where you have to collect the gold bugs. The bugs are a drop from mobs and are normally picked up very quickly. Once you have moped up the mobs on the top tier and have collected the key are are ready to open the gate and move onto the next tier. It is always recommended that on each tier you move in the direction of the next gate, killing and mining as you go.
Moving around the tiers is pretty standard, mobs to kill and ores to mine its the same really all the way around. The main thing you need to know is that when you do find the key don't keep fighting the mobs, immediately run back towards the gate. This isnt as important on tier 2 but it is very important on tier 3 and the final tier. If you have the key then if you are at the gate then theres no one else there, its better to wait for everyone else to get there and have a rest if they need and time allows. Again this isn't as important on tier 2 but it will prove very important on tier 3 and the final tier Tier 3 Gate: Gold Miner Marlone Once you have the key to unlock the last gate everyone needs to get there and rest up. While you are resting you should decide who is going to be tanking the rest of the kq. You need to decide now because once you open the gate, the first challenge of the KQ appears. Gold Miner Marlone. The best way to kill Marlone is the same way as you kill it in the Mara KQ. Have a fighter tank it with clerics healing them while the other fighters move behind it to attack it where they wont be hit from its AoE all while the archers and mages are hitting it from distance. Once Marlone is dead you are free to start moving around the final tier looking for the last key to allow you to face the final boss.
Treat tier 4 like all of the previous tiers. Fight and mine your way around towards the location of the final fight and keep going until you find the key you are looking for. Once somebody has the key, run back to the ice wall and rest until everyone is there and rested. The timer is capped at 5 minutes to kill the last boss and escape so if you have 7 minutes left, theres plenty of time for people to rest. Before you open the gate make sure the main tanker and all of the clerics are ready, they will be needed because as soon as the gate it opened the gold robber boss starts his attack. Gold Robber Boss Many people think that Gold Robber Boss is actually alot easier than Gold Miner Marlone because it doesn't have an AoE attack which leaves fighters free to just attack it anywhere they want. However the boss has the ability to stun with its normal attacks which then causes it to attack something else, more often than not an archer or a mage. So its good to have a backup tank that can take over while your main tank is stunned. The boss has a large amount of HP and wont go over easily. Just keep hitting him with everything you have to take down his HP until he finally falls over and dies.
Once the boss dies you would think that its the end of the KQ. However there is one more thing you need to do before you succeed.
Once the boss is dead a gate is spawned right at the back of the arena, to succeed the KQ one person must have used the gate. There have been KQ's where the boss has taken so long to kill that there hasn't been time to get to the gate to finish the KQ so people have come up with a way to make sure they wont miss the gate. Before the boss dies a low level ranged char will move over and stand by where the gate is, this means that as soon as the boss dies there is somebody waiting to move through the gate. By doing this it is impossible for groups to fail the KQ even after killing the boss. The rewards for the Gold Hill are fairly good. You get 3318 exp from finish the KQ and the present box with it. The main things you will get from the present box are:
The most common thing being pots, but if you are doing the quests at the same time, you will get a decent amount of silver from handing them in.
